The Rapid Active Materials Printing (RAMP) system, originally developed and patented at Princeton by Professor Michael McAlpine and licensed by Airion, is a method for 3D printing active electronic materials and devices through a custom multi-material extrusion process. This advancement allows for the printing of devices on stiff or flexible sheets across large areas and can be applied to both flat and non-flat surfaces in various three-dimensional configurations. Notably, the process can be used for printing quantum dots, semiconductors, piezoelectric devices, superconducting and ferroelectric materials, leading to potential applications in additive manufacturing of LEDs, OLEDs, microelectromechanical devices, solar cells, piezoelectric sensors, batteries, robots, and more.
